This is just lovely. A good reminder that gratitude is never something to be stingy with. Thanks, Laura for writing such a thought-provoking post.
Sorry to get all earnest for a minute, but here are some ideas about how to say thank you more often and more meaningfully. lastwordonnothing.com/2025/11/24/h...

If your game has voice acting, then working with the voice actors is half of your writing process. It's not complete until you've heard it interpreted and reimagined by a voice actor. And they always reimagine it in ways that elevate the writing, in ways you never would have imagined yourself.

The British government admits it is now monitoring VPNs use by UK residents. Regulator Ofcom has contracted with an AI-powered surveillance service to detect the number of citizens using VPNs to evade the Online Safety Act.

The UK tech minister has said a VPN ban is on the table.

Hey there #SLPeeps, looking for some good articles on #myastheniagraves and #dysphagia. And #voice as well I suppose! Not something I’ve seen a lot, but randomly have seen a few folks come through with it in the last couple months.

Would also be interested in any analog/workbook resources if anyone on #langsky has any they like.
It has taken me a while (longer than I care to admit) but I finally ditched Duolingo and am on the hunt for a better, non-AI-using replacement to primarily continue Spanish, but previously dabbled in Welsh, French, Scots Gaelic, and Japanese.

If you can donate to these 49 villages struck by the left over typhoon- on the west coast of alaska (only accessible by plane r boat!)- please do.
Thank you. I just did, it was quick.
Most of rural Alaska is Alaska Native. Bonus donating to support Alaska Native people on Indigenous Peoples Day.
Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

It involves delivery of a modified but safe virus that produces microRNA in the brain to counteract mutations in the huntingtin gene.

In the “soccer vs football” debate, the real question is why on earth we called American Football, well, any kind of “foot” ball at all (given its evolution from rugby which obviously uses hands mostly, and the limited use of feet to do anything with the ball at all).

There’s also this like, Celtic/Trad vibe to the soundtrack even though it’s a film about hip-hop/rap in New York City? What is happening?
Watching “Highest 2 Lowest” because I’ll watching anything with Denzel Washington, but I can’t get over the absolutely wild incongruousness between the upbeat piano-heavy soundtrack and the seriousness of a kidnapping/heist narrative.

First day back from holiday to find half the ward are Covid positive thanks to family members bringing it in. And the JCVI recommending against a Covid vaccine shot for patient-facing healthcare workers (but still offering it to older, at-risk populations, and providing the flu vaccine). Sigh.

Woof those numbers are, uh, not great.
Even including their 2023 expansion season, where they won the Western Conference with 56 points, St. Louis have the fifth-fewest points per game of any MLS club going back through the 2013 season.

This was a long time coming.
St. Louis City have parted ways with sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel.

Pfannenstiel was club's first-ever sporting director. Led STL to historic expansion season in 2023, first place in the West.

Club missed playoffs in 2024, sit 14th in the West with 7 games left.
