Yay! Dr. Tanya Atwater finally getting public credit for her (very big) role in the plate tectonics revolution.
The discovery that the continents are in continuous motion is fairly recent—dating back only to the late 1960s — and one woman was responsible for decoding what it meant for California and much of the West Coast.

I find this concept interesting. Earthquakes don't kill people buildings do {or better yet, building codes}. We can do more to protect people. And a reminder, long after the news moves on from an earthquake story, the people have not. So, donations are still needed.

The deadliest events were the M7.7 Myanmar, M6.0 Afghanistan, and M7.1 Tibet quakes, which caused around 8,000 deaths. ⚒️🧪
