I find this concept interesting. Earthquakes don't kill people buildings do {or better yet, building codes}. We can do more to protect people. And a reminder, long after the news moves on from an earthquake story, the people have not. So, donations are still needed.

Earthquakes Don't Kill People, Buildings Do
The Nepalese capital's problem wasn't the earthquake, it was the building codes.

It’s #EarthquakeReport Day! The M8.8 Kamchatka #earthquake was HUGE, as you can see in the cumulative energy‑release plot but no one died because it struck such a remote area.

The deadliest events were the M7.7 Myanmar, M6.0 Afghanistan, and M7.1 Tibet quakes, which caused around 8,000 deaths. ⚒️🧪

One of the best things that happened to me in 2025 was that we got a permit to visit The Wave in Arizona. Here are some photos from last Friday; needless to say, photos do not do justice to this place

I haven't seen enough Juneau Icefield Research Program on hype on BlueSky!

Are you a student interested in polar science? Are you a researcher imagining future field work? Are you an educator looking to teach the best and brightest?

JIRP is for you! Deadlines are soon!
