Can planting hedgerows help prevent flooding?

Join us on 10th Dec, 12.00-12.40 to hear from Prof Pippa Chapman & Dr Sofia Biffi.

Pippa & Sofia have explored how hedgerows of different ages (from under 5 years to decades old) affect how well soil absorbs and drains water.

Professor Piers Forster (Priestley Centre) is quoted on the persistent rise in fossil fuel emissions as the key driver of record CO₂ levels. He warns that emissions remain at an all-time high and are not yet declining.
CO2 levels in Earth's atmosphere jumped by a record amount in 2024
The global average concentration of CO2 surged by 3.5 parts per million to reach 423.9 ppm last year, fuelling worries that the planet’s ability to soak up excess carbon is weakening
