Immigrants commit fewer crimes.

Immigrants pay taxes.

The problem isn't immigrants.

The soft pedaling language being used to describe the men in the Epstein files is enraging.

They didn’t “have sex with underage girls”.

They raped them.

Sex implies consent.

The survivors deserve better than this. Use the correct language. Say what these men did.

The right's obsession with SNAP recipients buying popsicles is a modern version of a centuries-old tradition of scolding the poor for what they eat. It mimics verbatim Victorian complaints about the poor indulging in tea and sugar, mistaking consumption as a cause of poverty instead of a symptom.

MLK Junior is actually a good analogy for Charlie Kirk in this situation; right wingers are eager to selectively quote him and they don’t actually care that he was murdered.

Well, good thing the Democrats saved the filibuster for a rainy day 🤬 Why does Chuck Schumer still have a job?
Republicans moved to speed up Senate confirmation of President Trump’s nominees by changing the chamber’s rules. Senators voted 53-45 to allow themselves to change the rules with a simple majority — a move known as the “nuclear option.”
Republicans invoke ‘nuclear option’ in push to change Senate rules
The rules change will allow the Senate to confirm multiple nominees at once, helping to clear a backlog of nearly 150 nominees awaiting floor votes.

In 2014, Anita Sarkeesian canceled an event at Utah State after a credible assassination threat because the school’s response was that Utah allows guns on college campuses.

People have warned about this kind of violence for years. But they weren’t the people the powers at be wanted to protect.

Utah was the first state to allow open carry on campus. A would-be assailant could walk right onto campus armed as they please and nobody could’ve done a thing about it.

/6 Also: if a Left-wing activist even remotely as strident as Charlie Kirk had been assassinated, Charlie Kirk would have smirked and applauded, as would have many of the people who are going to be loudest about Charlie Kirk. Don’t buy the hypocrisy.

As someone old enough to remember “gay marriage “ being blamed for Bush’s re-election, the only way to dismiss same-sex marriage simply “superficial ” and “assimilationist “ is to ignore the entire history of that fight, let alone the insane freak outs and backlash it engendered.
I'm sorry, this is just a terrible take, "Will." The last two decades of "progress" have indeed been entirely superficial and assimilationist. The idea that queer folks brought on fascism because they "went too far" with trans rights shows how readily assimilation lends itself to eliminationism.

The media made a HUGE deal out of "basket of deplorables" and "cling to their guns or religion."

But, of course, it will totally ignore Trump saying he hates Democrats: "I hate them. I believe they hate their country."
in addition to his "shylocks" comment, i can't imagine the media backlash if Biden said anything like from this screenshot - that he "hates Republicans" - and i'm also tired of having this "IMAGINE IF BIDEN!" thought experiment but it's just a constant reminder of the double standards

This is a recurring strategy with these assholes:

-Break the thing that's been working

-Wait until people forget about you breaking the thing that was working

-Complain loudly about the thing being broken and how the Left never fixes anything and why isn't anything working
This is ridiculous. The only reason America "had" to bomb Iran is because Trump torpedoed the diplomatic strategy of his predecessor. The alleged necessity of the war has been created by the despot currently waging it!

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.
The repression of trans people is not, by and large, a grassroots outpouring of hatred from the American people. It's something that's been carefully planted and tended over years by a handful of media people and their pet reporters.
Heightened Scrutiny, a very good doc about the Supreme Court case that was just ruled on, does an impeccable and infuriating job laying out just how culpable the NYT and Atlantic are for the nation’s transphobia www.avclub.com/sundance-202...
