CONCLAVE (2024)

“I hunger for more radical visions of female sexuality, the kinds that aren’t so cerebral about the nastiness of its female lead.”

A great piece which articulates why Babygirl, for all its fun, ever so slightly misses the mark for me
Babygirl Just Isn’t An Erotic Thriller
The film about a female CEO cheating with a male intern is less scintillating and more a chilly, half-formed women’s picture.

I see why some Academy voters might go for WICKED, but the cultural juggernaut more deserving of their attention—though released early enough this year they may overlook it—is DUNE PART TWO, a miraculous sci-fi brutalist spectacle; it succeeds on a near-unimaginable scale visually and thematically.

Flatmate just walked past the cinema and upon seeing a poster muttered “ah they’re doing a movie of Wicked”… oh to be so chronically offline

I think it’s also worth saying, as someone who reads so many pitch decks, I find AI generated images a massive turn off. The purpose of stills in a deck is to communicate a visual and cinematographic world in which the projects sits. AI slop doesn’t achieve this, because it doesn’t look like film.
Love it or hate it AI is here to stay & we'll all be using it daily before too long.

This is a very interesting article looking at how Gen AI is and can be used for pitching drama - from a simple outline all the way up to pitch decks and sizzle reels. Thoughts?
