“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

They’ve definitely told us what it is.

Imagine how massive the tax breaks for billionaires must be when cutting $700B from Medicaid, $500B from Medicare, and $300B in food assistance STILL leaves a $4T deficit.

Hey, did you know there's an alternative to ChatGPT that makes sense economically and doesn't destroy the environment?
It's called English majors and they will happily fix all of your documents for the low price of health insurance and a living wage.

NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment.

Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too.

His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

Incredible to think how hard Merrick Garland worked for four years to avoid even the remotest appearance of partisanship or ideological commitments, and literally on her first day as AG Pam Bondi is like "Diversity is now illegal, we will be putting all the libs in prison"
Breaking from me and @mjsdc.bsky.social : Newly installed AG Pam Bondi sent out more than a dozen memos in a 15 minute period on Wednesday. One of them told staffers to come up with "proposals for criminal investigations" of large companies that have DEIA initiatives. slate.com/news-and-pol...

the mystification is important point. the mythical "unqualified black person" who took a job or a spot at an elite college exists in the cultural landscape as a literal scapegoat for a sense a personal inadequacy or anxieties about status. it's not that you're not good enough, it's the blacks.

Coming back here because the queer romance I'm currently reading just pulled this crap.

Picture this: They're in the middle of a full blown mob war and these two geniuses LEAVE the safe and secure location they're in to rendezvous at a freaking hotel.

Guess how that turned out for them.

Trump's freezing of all civil rights cases at the DOJ is not part of an anti-DEI agenda, but an anti-civil rights agenda. DOJ was *founded* to protect Black rights during Reconstruction. That this difference is unclear speaks to the success of conservative propagandists and the failures of liberals.
