This paper about Global Subsidence of #River Deltas looks great, and I'm keen to read it. However, I think it should be illegal to use the word "global" if #Australia is not included. 🧪

Academia's a funny game. In 2026 I've had a paper accepted (yay) and seen a paper based on an idea I discussed with someone at a conference (boo). It wasn't my idea, but the paper included someone that I've collaborated with in the past. Thought I may have gotten involved. Oh well... #academicsky

After using almost an entire roll of gaffer tape in an attempt to keep them together, this is the final state of my shitty Hard Yakka boots after a week's fieldwork in the desert. Utter garbage of a product. Never again 💩🧪

The views are stunning in central Australia. Far from the worst place to do work. As a guide, the Devil's Marbles Hotel is AWESOME! 😎👍

I'm a slow learner. Here are 2024 and 2025 photos of my boots that melted during fieldwork (to be fair, in the desert in Nov/Dec). Hard Yakka boots... Never again. 🤬

Man, I listened to 123,888 minutes of music this year. That's 86 days. Wow.

So, there aren't many #Slipknot fans on Youtube Music then 🤘. I don't listen to them that much...

I normally don't find news from Mars that interesting (I'd prefer that we focus on understanding #Earth), but even I think that lightning on #Mars is very interesting ⚡🧪 www.abc.net.au/news/science...

Microphone recordings from NASA's Perseverance rover have turned up more than 50 instances of lightning on the red planet over the past four years, a new study finds.

It's been a wet start to the 2025/26 wet season in #Darwin. Who would have thought that the second-wettest November on record (and it's not over yet) would lead to this? #rain 🧪💧

Yikes. #CycloneFina in #Darwin brought down some MASSIVE mahogany trees. Blocking two lanes on Lee Point Road.

What a legend the weather guy, Nate Byrne from ABC news is. There's a #cyclone in #Darwin, so he's in Darwin. #Respect

It's going to be a wet year in #Darwin. I hope that the storms forming off the coast don't develop into cyclones... We're approaching the 95th percentile for #rain, and it's trending upwards... 🧪 💧

Given the topic of my PhD (groundwater and temperature) I can't believe I've never thought about this. Abandoned onshore gas wells and geothermal energy... So smart (assuming sufficient temps, etc.). 🧪 theconversation.com/geothermal-e...
Geothermal energy has huge potential to generate clean power – including from used oil and gas wells
The Earth’s own heat can be brought up from underground and used as a source of energy that emits almost no greenhouse gases and can operate 24/7 almost anywhere on the planet.
