Hydrological Scientist at Charles Darwin University, 🇦🇺. Researching groundwater & surface water. Working with ecologists & remote sensing folks. Also love home brewing 🍺, heavy metal 🤘 & recently, 3D printing. Opinions are my own.
It's the special issues that I am particularly concerned about. With so many a year, are they really that special?

Because you're smart 😀

Nah, it means you're big brained (whether you knew it or not). 💪🧠

Like all answers... I'll give this a go if I ever get desperate, but it's fridge all the way for me.

Sounds good... But I don't deal with the volume of onions as a restaurant... So, it's the fridge all the way for me.

Everyone can (and will) make up their own mind. I know that the processing time is a factor for many. It's the special issue factor that gets me. No thanks.

Lots of people at my university publish in MDPI journals. I just don't want anything to do with them...

It's the 100s of special issues a year that gets me. Asking (often early career) researchers to be guest editors to solicit papers for the journal. It just seems dodgy to me. I don't want a bar of it.

As an Australian, I feel very fortunate to say that yes we can. There is so much horrific and needless violence in Ukraine, Gaza and in countries that claim to be the best one on the planet...

Incredible!

True, but we have to cater for live in person, live online, asynchronous online. I already pre-record short videos for computer lab sessions + run live sessions. I run interactive, AMA lectures, & update my content each week to include the latest from the news/ recently published papers.

As a self-confessed recovering groundwater modeller, I am constantly amazed at how cool remote sensing is. Just wow.
