Honestly, some of the things they ended up doing to Priestley’s vision genuinely make. my heart break. This, culturally and politically homogenizing the Imperium, annihilating the entire sense of history and Deep Time, making the Horus Heresy into a concrete thing rather than a vastly distant era…

This is absolutely not a knock on the Golden Demon winners, which are, of course, incredible pieces of painting... but there's something deeply sad about the complete dominance of a very specific, airbrushed aesthetic, to the exclusion of every other approach to painting and modelling.
