This is my nerd/gaming/folk horror account. Professional account elsewhere, to a given extent of "professional".
Working on a game set in liminal spaces (A Fold in England); playing around with board edges that contract as characters lose lucidity.
Rather happy with this early draft, for playing liminal spaces:

CREATE THE FOLD
Create a fold in England, on a suitable board or space. Generally this should be around 3’x3’.

Around this, place a heavy piece of string or rope, of around 9 feet, or 275cm, in a rough circle.

My personal thought is that a significant proportion of Space Marines are trans men, but the whole insistence that across all of the Imperium no Marines could be women is just wilfully boring at this point.

You may find that threading each end through a suitable bead will help with this; you might also mark the thread to give specific lengths.

Note that the edge of the Fold is a hazy boundary; you are discouraged from worrying too much about precision, or maintaining the circle.

This thread represents the edge of the Fold. During play, they may sometimes ‘tighten’ inwards, in which case pull the two ends of the thread by the given amount, so that they further overlap, reducing the playing space.

But it's a little beyond me right now, and I am unsure how much of my vision of it is simply the amount of folkloric imagery that underlines Mantell's England, and the refrain of goblins, sprites and hidden worlds that permeates the text. It's wholly absent from the BBC adaptation in any case.
