The connectome of the entire male Drosophila central nervous system is out!! Acquired using FIB-SEM @ 8x8x8nm, we aligned 7.5 mio 2D images aligned into one seamless 3D volume, which was used to segment & proofread neurons and synapses. @hhmijanelia.bsky.social

Worm25 has been absolutely fantastic so far-congrats to everyone for your amazing work! One striking change in the talks this year is it seems like the consensus number of neurons in the adult hermaphrodite has returned to 302 after a few years at 300. Is CAN back?

I may not be at #worm25 but the real discussion endures
The number of C. elegans neurons must always be contested, unknowable, liminal in order to maintain humility in our efforts to list, label, and categorize nature, which is indifferent to our schemas.
