Thanks for teaching me a bit of history about my hometown's son Gründgens. There's a big square in front of the theatre named after him and I had never dug into the history. maps.app.goo.gl/YHbmzb4UJ6BU...

Yeah. Wasn't he like only 4 years old or something like that? Anyway, all the best to you and the family

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. 🫂

Thank you, random post on my feed. That was so joyful to watch and somehow I hadn't seen that before.

We've been trying to deal with these questions for decades now (and let's say 15 years for CD as something that you could have known about) and yet I see little improvement in quality. Where would the motivation come from for people to suddenly invest real effort into this if they've not done so yet

This is as wrong as saying that only redneck people carried Trump. Right-wing ideology has strong support in the West. And what strong organisational foothold fascists built up in the East also has a lot to do with how the West handled reunification.

Ship/Show/Ask is a branching strategy that helps teams wait less and ship more, without losing out on feedback.

I dunno dude we might end up like France which historically has the most strike days in the EU & that got them… Let’s see here…. A 35 hour / 4 day work week enshrined in law, what in the fuck? One of best universal healthcare systems in the world, you fucking kidding me?
What if.... maybe.... everyone goes on strike....
BREAKING: Starbucks Workers United is going on strike.

Tomorrow unionized Starbucks workers are walking out in multiple key cities. And @sbworkersunited.org's rolling strike will grow in the coming days.

537 stores and 10,000+ workers are in the union and could potentially strike.

"During a gold rush, sell shovels" or whatever that saying was.

Not that anything about stock markets makes sense but I can at least comprehend it a little in this context.

And Tim Urban. I think it was the waitbutwhy series of posts in 2017 that briefly made me anthropomorphize billionaires

You could still then use those to train models, I guess. At least for a change that wouldn't be outright stealing the data
December 1, 2024 at 5:35 PM
Behind in what, exactly? But even if this wasn't a vaguely condescending fig leaf, where would the training data come from?

If you care about indigenous languages and tech equity, invest in indigenous language textbooks not in AI.

with all due respect, 'techlash' comes from years of shitty tech systematically forced into people's lives with no option to opt out, disenfranchising the most marginalised, turning public spaces into a surveillance nightmare, and now genAI destroying the earth, all to make a handful men richer
2. The biggest reason folks hate tech and the industry broadly is partly because of a deep lack of understanding of how content moderation works but also because 'techlash' is trendy.

There's an entire, extremely lucrative, grift built on generating hate towards tech.
