Ever since I learned wood anemones spread just 6 feet in 100 years, I’ve been more impressed by the starry carpet in my local woods. It’s low impact, but long lasting 🤔

Last Friday I finished reading Property @rowanmoore.bsky.social It has changed how I think about my home, houses around me, village church, local shop, struggles of my family & so many others, and how I read the news. Possession, when compared with property, informs alienation & belonging.

Had wonderful stroll with friend today, discussing seasonal nature of resting & doing. Some days it’s impossible to resist overdoing it, important when it’s in a lovely place like a wood in spring.

I’ve never seen it put so succinctly before! Even as a disabled person myself, I struggle a lot with internalized ableism.

These 12 all two common narratives about disability can be difficult to unlearn, but that work is important.

Who is this man? And why did my dad make this portrait? Who do we choose to pay attention to?
Every time I come here I unfollow some more people, slowly I’ll get space to find posts that add something to my day.

Back at the hospital this week. X-ray dept had a makeover, felt hallucinogenic, too distracting to rest. Fortunately not there long.

Rest-do days never stop 😁 I’m recording an interview about my book today. Looking forward to talking with Maria McCann for WLR FM radio. It’s always interesting to answer questions about rest-do days.

Today is a hospital day for me. I wonder how long I’d survive without the NHS. No private provider will touch me even for the most minor procedure because I’m too risky. US style anything sounds scary. Surely Reform must be losing its appeal? eastangliabylines.co.uk/politics/rad...

Read the whole thread. Most of my research would be airbrushed out of all funding and publication in USA right now. NB good luck doing epidemiology research without the word 'bias'. #academicsky #episky
🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

I can breathe quite well now after chest infection but am in that state of fatigue where it’s very difficult to initiate anything. Another rest-do day tomorrow, following my habits to save energy.

Slowly shifting from sick days back to rest-do days. I helped a lovely friend to change my bedsheets yesterday. Novels are my best escape from miseries of being acutely unwell.

Saw my GP & spoke with my respiratory consultant. It’s so helpful to hear how they understand why I can’t breathe v well. Both offered feasible suggestions & reassurance. Feeling like I’ve turned a corner towards better times today.

Been a tough wheezy snotty bloodstreaked week so I assume my vasculitis is flaring alongside respiratory infection. It’s been good to receive lovely photos from friends, among many other gestures of support.

If governments and organisations attended to indoor air quality, we’d be less reliant on masks to prevent transmission of respiratory infections.
