In honor of upcoming Valentine’s Day here is a classic example of rosette-forming glioneuronal tumor. These grade 1 tumors typically show a hotspot mutation in FGFR1 along with PIK3R1 or PIK3CA alterations and are usually found in the fourth ventricle 🌹 ♥️ 🥀 🧠 🔬 #pathsky #neuropath #medsky

I’m an NSF panel reviewer that was scheduled to meet today. Just got notice that all NSF panels were canceled today. I reviewed some innovative proposals in support of students. Devastating if these scholars don’t get to do this work. For the love of science & students I hope this is just a delay.💔

If you deal with optic nerves at all, don’t forget that optic nerve sheath meningiomas are a thing. They sometimes get mistaken for optic neuritis, and they can look very similar on MRI. Some clues:
- vision loss is usually slowly progressive and painless
