The fact that we have to prove a human therapist provides better text-based CBT than ChatGPT is mind blowing. #AI should not be thought of as a replacement for people. #Humanity needs humans and humans need humanity‼️

I made a timeline of all the actions in Trump's (almost) first 100 days that have upended science and health. It was staggering to me to see it all in one place, even though I reported on many on these events. www.statnews.com/2025/04/24/t...

In terminating hundreds of NIH grants, the Trump administration dumped years of investment down the drain. In my latest @opinion.bloomberg.com column, we analyzed the cancelled projects & talked to scientists to understand just how much the public loses out. It's a lot: tinyurl.com/bdey86su

Yesterday I wrote about how Trump's "flagged" word list might block all of epidemiology, and some people complained discussing this was a distraction from bigger issues.

But I think they're wrong. I think inclusiveness is fundamental to epidemiology, and without it we are dramatically limited.

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

#Liberties are worth fighting for! Trump, Elon and the gop are trampling all of it including the dems.

I am PI on an R01 partnering with the VA. They do enormously important research and have vast data resources. But the VA system is not easy to navigate. Losing their skilled analysts and data techs would greatly impede work there.
NIH cuts are getting the press, but VA research is getting slashed too. What do we lose when VA research goes away? Here's some greatest hits: The nicotine patch, invention of the cardiac pacemaker, first successful liver transplant, development of the CAT/CT scan

VA Research Funding Slashed
Though not as prominent as the NIH, VA researchers play a major role in advancing basic health science. Hundreds of projects have been cut.
