During the rollout of the COVID vaccines, the lack of testing - combined with a raft of misinformation - led many pregnant women to not get vaccinated.

@propublica.org wrote this in 2022, but it's just as relevant now with RFK Jr's CDC changing recommendations for the vaccine.
“God, No, Not Another Case.” COVID-Related Stillbirths Didn’t Have to Happen.
A lack of testing data and government guidance led many to avoid the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy, unwittingly increasing their chances of a stillbirth.

"The cuts at NIH have just been devastating. All this work that’s been done — and remains to be done — it just comes to a standstill."
Clinical trials face uncertain futures amid Trump cuts

We’re dealing with a control-F problem. Someone found a word that they didn’t like and then indiscriminately shut down a huge amount of important science that will directly impact the American people. #IDSky

Sudden NIH grant terminations lack economic or ethical considerations. Our ATN-173/HPTN-115 protocol (STI prevention for women) has been rigorously preparing ~2 years to launch in April. What was broken in a day will take months to rebuild. We owe it to adolescents and women to not give up.

A reminder from Rebecca Denison, fear is a reaction, courage is a decision. She also begged rightfully to not preemptively bend the knee, and that silence = death.

The people of Kenya contributed key evidence that PrEP prevents HIV. In Kenya last week I saw beloved clinics like DREAMS, North Star, etc closed. The remaining clinics’ PrEP supplies expire in June without a plan for new shipments. We have come too far to not prioritize PrEP access! #PEPFAR #USAID

Event-driven PrEP works to prevent HIV among cisgender men and data suggestions that on-demand dosing may be an option regardless of sex or gender. Should dosing strategies differ depending on anatomic site of exposure?
Event-driven PrEP beyond cisgender men who have sex with men
Despite advancements in existing antiretroviral-based prevention strategies, including daily oral, locally acting, and injectable options, there is a pressing need for more inclusive and flexible event-driven pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) strategies for all. Event-driven or intermittent dosing of PrEP in populations beyond cisgender men who have sex with men would offer a promising alternative by fitting prevention into the diverse lifestyles of affected populations and thereby advancing health equity.
