This, from Joey Santore, caused me to finally look up the etymology of /Asclepias/. Apparently there's zero evidence for my guess (and everyone else's too) that it is linked to Ἀσκληπιός, the Greek god of medicine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My feelings about megastructures have... evolved since my teenage Soleri fanboy days. But even back then, I think I'd have had the sense to see The Line as a megalomaniacal folly. I hope. Regardless, The Line was, back-of-envelope-estimation, never going to happen.
