A photo taken from my back door step. It is night time in January 2026. The road and streetlights are shrouded with mist. In recent years the lampposts were replaced with LED lights that are directed down, with much reduced light pollution. Above the light is a line of trees, mostly silver birch and oaks. These are cast in silhouette. Shining above them is a diffused blob of red aurora. And sitting on top the stars bright against the darkness.

Alien snapped in Paris streets.

A strange figure was noticed in the streets around St. Germain des Près today. Over 7 feet tall and moving briskly, one coffee drinker got a snap of it (see picture). Last seen arguing for a discount in Muji.

To get to my weird little valley, there's one 14 mile road in or out. I stop at this spot quite often if the clouds are interesting, and wait for a vehicle to drive by.

A Gray-crowned rosy finch for #BirdOfTheDay #WinterSurvivor.
Due to its remote and rocky alpine habitat it is rarely seen. I had them all around until I decided to move to lower altitudes.
