Toad on a (rail) road.
A toad (I think - I am no amphibian expert, don’t you know) on some grass, on top of a long since abandoned railway line. The back/upper side of the toad has dark (nearly black) grey splotches on a lighter grey background. The curve of the eyeballs are just detectable, at the either side of its head. Similarly, the lightness of its underside & belly is just detectable, around the edges. The grass is a mix of fresh greens & faded yellows.

I saw this exhibition of paintings by Ken Currie, today. Fabulously dark, & evocative of Highland & Island darkness. Give yourself a hallowe’en chill. It is on until 29 November.

The responses to the UK government’s proposals in Inverness are interesting. The most open-minded and positive comments come from within the local community. This is in clear contrast with the reactions of local politicians and the Scottish government.

The world’s largest tuning fork?

18 October 1944 | A transport of 1,500 Jews deported from the Theresienstadt ghetto arrived at #Auschwitz. Among those murdered in gas chamber and crematorium III after the selection were three distinguished composers: Pavel Haas, Hans Krása, and Viktor Ullmann.
