We’re watching a shift where AI simulates the cohesion and reinforcement that used to require an entire online community. A single person can now build a complete parallel reality with nothing more than a prompt window. Which seems bad.

Just stop digging already.
1) AARP membership extends from age 50 to death. This means the AARP is asserting not just for boomers, now age 60-78, but for the voting block of 50-59, which again went for Trump more than any, and those over 78. Not boomers.
2) It's in the AARP interest to hype.

So tempted to write a troll thread on how this incident shows Rust has bad error handling and wouldn’t have happened in Go, where we actually handle errors 🫣🫢😜

I did satellite waaaaay back in the day; it was slow, metered and would go out in a rainstorm. DSL after that and it was at 6kbps until a few years ago when it was grudgingly bumped up to 40kbps. Brightspeed will never run fiber down my road - not populated enough - so here we are.
Nice! We had old fashioned satellite, couldn’t get cell because NIMBYs think a cell tower would destroy their way of life. Got Starlink during Covid for about 10 months until local service provider realized they were going to lose out and they put in fiber to our house. 10 Gbps symmetric now 🤤

I won't consider Starlink for the same reason I won't buy a Tesla and why I'm no longer on the former Twitter: I won't willingly give money to (or be an advertising base for) a Nazi salute-throwing fascist who actively tried to destroy our democracy

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Do I crack dad jokes?

Do I dress inappropriately, or just really badly?

Do I tell him that I love him in front of everyone? (Well, duh, of course I'm gonna do that!)

Do I ask him if any of his friends is the one he has a crush on? (He doesn't have a crush no anyone, but why waste this chance?)

My son is going to be having a bunch of his friends over to the house during the Thanksgiving break so that they can all do their video projects.

This is such a wonderful opportunity to embarrass my son that I'm frankly suffering from paralysis. Too many choices!
