Remember this post and @ethesoc.blacksky.app when you start seeing "irritated vindication" going around on the socials.

They bring up a great point, one worth reiterating when we (white people) get the next several things wrong.
I have a term for this:

Irritated vindication- situation where you are right or know you were going to be right about something, tried your best to tell people, and were ignored. When the thing happens, you are less happy about being right and more irritated that it had to come to that moment.

People overseas will be like "America this your problem & it's impacting us all so get your shit together!" and Elon Musk will be South African and Rupert Murdoch will be Australian and Peter Thiel will be German and the President will be an obvious Russian Asset funded by Israel & Saudi Arabia.

As a Canadian - I’ve learned Americans need guns to oppose a tyrannical government by shooting elementary students

But when masked secret police abduct people into mystery prison camps?

Nothing.

Just wild your country has functioned at all for 250 years

One of my favorite villains in movie history. Giamatti is just working a 9-to-5 as a villain, seems like a good boss all things considered

Shoot 'Em Up is one of my favorites. Directly inspired by Looney Tunes, with one of my favorite villains of all time. Dude treats his job as a villain like a 9-to-5

I don't think you understand American racism, and I don't think you should be telling American people, least of all Black folks, what is and isn't racism in an American context.

the spectrum of queer experience is vast and complex, and none of us know what's going on inside families that are not our own

but my feed is full of media outlets describing a woman with a very-much-living-and-in-the-picture wife first and foremost as though she was a man's widow, and I just

Did Keith Porter deserve to die?

Acknowledged and understood. Jonathan should do what's right for him.

For my part, seeing the rage so many years ago is what got me to pay proper attention.

Please, don't feel like you need to delete this. Some folks need to see it. Some people need to see the rage.

Observation:

If you're despairing in that first message, then get defensive when someone gives the littlest bit of "yeah, well, it's been this way for others for ages", you might need to take a beat and think about what you're saying, and who you're saying it to.

Hell, while I was checking this damn app at school today half of the black women I follow we’re literally talking about why the phrase “Say Her Name” had distinct meaning to black women being assaulted by the state and most of y’all are still sitting there going “buuuut whhhy youre soooo mean”

ICE killed a Black man, Keith Porter, 7 days before Renee Good, and I hadn't heard about it until today. His vigils went unnoticed. His life came and gone and America forgot to blink.

Two Americas.

I say keep bringing it up. Maybe we'll all get the message one of these days.

Was Renee Nicole Good a child soldier?

The Court system, when informed that it was re-scheduled for 4/20:

"Okay okay our bad. How about June 9th?"

You can't use your stated politics as a shield for your observable actions. You can't "leftistly" appropriate a symbol and expect everyone to just be like "oh, he's a leftist, it's totally okay for him to use this symbol that has specific meaning for Indigenous women and people."
January 8, 2026 at 4:37 PM
So yes, "red handprints" have multiple meanings - which I outlined previously. None of those meanings pertain to the murder of Renee Nicole Good, or the murder by police forces generally, or even government murder of citizens.

You could pick literally any other color.

I Googled "red hand protest" (no quotes) in a private window:

And the funniest part is, it literally doesn't have to be! He could have chosen a different color for his one-off symbol choice for this particular moment and nobody would care.

The fact that he's pushing back so hard is quite telling.
