NEW: A searing editorial in the The Kyiv Independent.

“It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.

I’m on FB discussing Musk’s use of young programmers to facilitate cuts rather than actual federal auditors and I’m asked how I know that. For real? You don’t follow the news? And herein lies the problem. Heads in the sand and I’m having to explain what I *thought* everyone knew.

I have my crisis comm students watch Meltdown at Three Mile Island. Nuclear Engineer turned president Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn suit up and walk through contaminated water to assure folks the crisis is over. It is an amazing presidential moment.

Those that would forfeit were so full of their own darkness that they would rather hurt another than just play a game. It also shows how disconnected they are from their own oppression and fight for the rights to have women’s teams in the first place. Someone queue up King v Riggs for them.
San Jose State volleyball coach Todd Kress released this statement after his team lost to Colorado State in the Mountain West championship game last night

Sad it had to be said but I'm glad it was

Yes, this is a much needed area of research and while @jeremylittau.bsky.social discusses the idea aside from AI research, I think there is another intersection that could include AI.
Hot area in my field for junior scholars seems to be AI, but if I was advising doc students I’d be looking to work with people who want to study influencer culture, its relationship to journalism, and the social impacts. Work that goes a step past self-publishing and looks at persuasion effects.
1 in 5 U.S. adults get their news from social media influencers, according to Pew report
Across platforms, male news influencers outnumber women, and creators with explicit political orientations lean conservative.

Heads up everyone - this means they hate how well the blocklists work, which is amazing. But also time to be discerning about which lists you subscribe to.
This is the next phase that Kiwi Farms members have stated they will do - constructing look-alike blocklists and then adding popular trans people to them after the fact, once the blocklist is seeded in the community. Make sure any block list you use says who runs it.
Do you know who is running this list? Reason for asking is they copied this account's lists verbatim, but do not say who is running their account.
