Whenever I see stories like the below. I am reminded of the excellent paper @felly500.bsky.social shared from @thelancet.com www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... Showed that mostly expensive new drugs generate less impact than investing the same amount into other areas of health.

If your patient leaves your clinic after a diagnosis of #lungcancer & they don’t have NRT +/- varenicline/ cytisine you are failing them. We need to sort this out. Thanks #BTOG25 for giving me energy to try again to remove the barriers & fox this for our patients in SE London
We really need to make sure people know this!! It’s never too late to quit smoking. Treating tobacco dependence is cancer treatment! We would not let this survival benefit pass us by of this was a new oncology drug. #BTOG25
So what's the point in quitting smoking once you've already been diagnosed with cancer?

Quitting in the first 6 months could add extra years to survival!
