ICYMI, the UK government has put forward legislation to end the cruel two-child limit social security policy.

It is a short bill that simply proposes deleting two lines of earlier legislation applying the limit.

Finally debated yesterday. bills.parliament.uk/bills/4059

🎗️Today is World Cancer Day.

Smoking is the leading preventable cause of cancer.

Today’s National Cancer Plan reinforces the Government’s commitment to the Tobacco and Vapes Bill and the smokefree generation policy that will ensure our children do not grow up with the cancers caused by smoking.

When we speak about community, or 'communities of care', it can easily sound like a buzzword, or platitude. A gloss to cover over the very real difficulties of dangerous times.

Yet here's the proof, that communities can form in necessary ways and collectively make powerful things happen.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
