I took a date to a pizza spot in Decatur yesterday and a GAGGLE of toddlers running around and their parents felt no need to actually parent their kids. Even in the bar section where we were there was a parade of screaming.
I am not trying to be funny, but the broader conversation in America about third spaces needs to be had and reframed from kid friendly vs childfree to simply usable space.
People speak as if there are tons of places that are kid hostile & I don’t believe you.

I think part of the issue is that pop culture feels overtly kid-hostile in a way it didn't a generation ago. There's a lot more profanity, violence, and sexual content in the media and in particular you super cannot let your kids watch the news. Because the president has no filter

This should be a norm! Like set up the family showings. You’re a movie theatre. You have hella screenings. Do the thing.
A movie theater in Brooklyn Heights used to have baby matinees so that parents with wee ones could go see a movie and not feel terrible about it. I loved that.

I got fired from a brewery for asking a FB group for advice in managing unsupervised kids in the taproom. Didn’t name my workplace, but some woman was so incensed that i even asked the question that she found out where I worked and made enough of a stink to get me fired.
I stopped going to a brewery I liked because it became a children’s playground.
Why are your kids are the bar? TF.
