I think I can announce it (it's on the website now), but I'm really excited to say that I got the journal cover for the November issue of JCS! The retina is so beautiful, and I'm so happy I get to share that.

Our latest paper is out! It's led by my first MSc graduate, Andrew Rideout, who did a terrific job with this project. We report some fun and confusing results about mGluR6 trafficking.

I bought an ink adventer calendar and to justify it, I've been doing a sketch a day with the new inks. Here are a couple of my favorites. #ArtAdventCalendar #SciArt #Sketch

Trying to find some protocols for cone isolation from frogs that don't involve transgenics or freezing. There is a surprising dearth of information out there for cone isolation? Seems to be mostly rods. Is anyone familiar with any simple-ish protocols? 🧪 👀 #xenopus

Sketch weekend. The goal is to finish the sketchbook by the end of the year, but that might be a little ambitious for me (34 pages left).

Art class today. The theme was underwater, so I couldnt resist painting my model organism #Xenopus laevis (African clawed frog). This is done in encaustics, which is a mixture of beeswax and resin 🐸 #Art #SciArt 🧪

Update: I did not know that "Google Drive for Desktop" was a thing. So I downloaded that and am now moving everything over. Easy peasy 😊 (only about 600 GB to transfer 🫠). Thanks all!

OK bsky. I need to back up a shared Google drive. If you download a folder, it zips it according to size, and changes the location of files. E.g., it will download 6 zips, and "Summer Research" will have X number of files in 6 duplicate folders across zips. Is there a way to put things back easily?

Sent hubby a pic of my desk at work and he asked why I had a framed picture of a man. Babe, how much time you got because we're going to get into some LORE 😂

It's a semi-silly but uplifting way to remind myself of how far I've come. Mega props if you know the source. 🧪💅

I haven't read a good book in a long time. Any recommendations? I read multiple genres: horror, science, fiction, non-fiction, nature, etc...The last books I read were the immortal life of henrietta lacks, braiding sweetgrass, and into the planet.
