Things are taking off here, so it must be time for my first post! I am a social psychologist mostly interested in social identity, stigma, and health/wellbeing. As a parent of young kids I also enjoy funny/relatable posts about family life 😬 Looking forward to following some interesting new people!

Are you a little confused about how Ireland’s Presidential Election works?

Fear not: I have once again picked up some 🔴 popular 🟠 coloured 🟡 chocolate-based 🟢 confectionary 🔵 treats 🟣 to show how the #aras25 votes are counted.

When using Microsoft Word or Google Docs, don't just make text bigger and bolder to make it a heading. That will work for sighted users, but screen reader users will miss that and just hear it as normal paragraph text. Use actual heading styles, like level 1 through 6.

This ad is a new low in smearing for Heather Humphreys. Barristers operate on a taxi-rank basis*, they don’t choose clients. The financial meltdown was caused through a failure to regulate the banks by FG & FF. She really must think the public is as ignorant as herself! #Aras25

Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

An excellent thread.
I've been thinking a lot about the difference between doing a "search" and doing "research" and how that works with conspiracy theory/lies to control our public sphere. Here's an old thread from 2023

David, our Departmental Assistant in Psychology @micireland.bsky.social is hoping to speak to young adults (18-25) in the Limerick area with at least one migrant parent for his postgrad research on second-generation identity and belonging.

Reposts appreciated, #Spéirghorm! Particularly in Limerick.
Hi everyone, I'm currently researching how second-generation migrant young adults - those born in Ireland to at least one migrant parent - experience identity and belonging.

I'm especially interested in what 'home' means to them and how they negotiate Irish and local identity.
