Amazing how all it takes is two days of snow for the construction in my neighbourhood to grind to a halt and make me aware of just how much the constant background noise of it was piling onto the stress in my body. It's so quiet now. omg

"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc
The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Has Already Killed Hundreds of Thousands
The short documentary “Rovina’s Choice” tells the story of what goes when aid goes.

I'm actually loving Daylight Savings this time around because I get to stay up an hour later and, crucially, /sleep in an hour later/ every single day, and it's everything. Now if I could skip the spring adjustment and only do the fall one, once a year, that'd be grand.

Once you start thinking of AI as a war on humanity, on human thought, on human inquiry, on human labor, on nuance and critical thinking, it slots in pretty seamlessly with the right wing ideological project, oligarchical political projects, big tech's political projects, etc

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

First Hallowe'en in the new house and the second-largest spider I've ever encountered has moved into my garage. Does this count as decorations?

Turn off your Ring doorbell cameras, folks. Don't help ICE victimize families.
‼️ ICYMI: Amazon Ring announced a partnership with the notorious surveillance tech company Flock, which was recently exposed for secretly sharing camera data w/ ICE & law enforcement investigating people who travel for abortion care.

Ideal conditions for starting your passion project will never come. You will never feel skilled enough to make it. There will never be a moment where you stop being scared to start. Do it anyway. Do it badly. Do it scared. Just make that thing that’s clawing at the door of your soul; It wants out.

As others have said, no one is demanding mask mandates in all public places. A reasonable solution is to have mandates in places that clinically vulnerable people cannot avoid. Public transit, healthcare facilities, grocery stores and pharmacies. CLEAN THE AIR in schools and all other buildings.
