So I have a broken bone on my left hand that requires surgery (that I'll have to cover whole... ouch), but my right hand CAN still draw so

He leaned closer, angling his face upward toward Osprey, their lips a mere finger’s breadth away. Though he’d grown taller since they’d first met, he’d never be quite as tall as Osprey. Lilian smiled a little at this, moving his thumb gently over Osprey’s hand, finding his skin as clammy as it had been the day they’d met. Lilian knew inherently the questions Osprey was pondering, imagining the oaths his knight had taken playing like a litany of warnings in his mind. No matter how he tempted him, when it came to matters of intimacy, Osprey was forbidden to act on his own accord. Lilian could give him his permission, but that would ruin the fun. Wouldn’t it? The sharp symphony of insect song seemed to grow louder as Lilian pondered his own motivations. Was he taunting his knight, or was he testing him– and would he rather Osprey pass, or fail? Osprey and Lilian, the main protags of the book. who are both special and terrible in their own way :)

warm up / fountain pen ink study of Pamela Colman Smith's 1909 tarot deck 🖋️🃏
a loose linework drawing in black fountain pen ink in my sketchbook. it is a study of the composition of the Death card in the 1909 tarot deck illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, but with my characters: a knight armored in black and mounted on a horse rides in profile from the left of the frame, one hand holding the staff of a large black banner with the roman numerals XIII and a large white flower on it. behind them, the sun is low on the horizon between distant towers and trees. on the ground about the horse's feet are clusters of amanita (deathcap) mushrooms and three figures: one in a crown and bejeweled lacy robes holding her hands up as if beseeching the knight, one with long hair and a white dress slumped to her side as if falling asleep (or dying) and one completely flat on their back on the ground, though their head is turned to smirk directly at the viewer and they are making a peace sign with one hand.

First read of the year. Excited... ive only finished the prologue but im intrigued so far. I love the way the writing sets the scene and how it guides the reader's minds eye. Very cool 😎
