Caravan of federal agents spotted around 26th and Kedzie in Little Village. This has attracted crowd of residents yelling at them to leave. A community meeting nearby was cancelled. CPD is keeping crowds of residents back. Another disruptive day for something that’s become common in Little Village.

On second review, this looks to be just smoke grenades / flashbang. Bovino has been carrying around a CS gas canister in his hand though, so not ruling out that gas was deployed elsewhere this morning—it's been incredibly chaotic, with agents attacking people in multiple locations.
Federal immigration agents have deployed gas in Little Village, on 26th between Komensky and Pulaski, per videos shared online after 11 am this morning.

Some good news.
New: Pablo Moreno González and Felipe Agustin Zamacona, two men formerly held at the Broadview, IL ICE facility, and now the named plaintiffs in a federal class action alleging inhumane treatment at the facility, are being released from federal custody per a successful habeas petition.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

Her husband told her that detainees at Broadview had to get up at 5am to get in line for one bathroom. He often peed himself. One time he had to wait until 2pm to use the bathroom. You could only use the bathroom once a day. He said the agents would beat you if you used the bathroom on yourself.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

The inhumane conditions are on purpose, many are kidnapped and given two options, sign a paper authorizing self-deportation or await a hearing that can take weeks or months. Many, especially with medical conditions, opt to self deport than to endure another day in those conditions.

Some screenshots from itp_chicago IG. You can see how federal agents stake their presence around some of these communities in intersections in the middle of traffic and sidewalks in front of businesses. This feels very particular to the SW Side with Little Village being a prime target for this.

Whatever you agree or disagree, Chicago has been holding the line on non-violent resistance against daily kidnappings but the streets are talking and patience is running thin.

After a week of only terrorizing the north side of Chicago, CBP and ICE has been making incursions into the Southwest side all day, particularly Little Village, Brighton Park, and Gage Park. Several people have been kidnapped already.
