This is the thing. I’m so glad Liam is home but I can’t stop thinking about the other 3800.
Liam is back home.

He is only one of the approximately 3,800 children in ICE custody.

Like this meditation from Lion’s Roar mag:

Breathe into the possibility that your suffering is a response to toxic systems, not personal failure. Gently affirm: "This pain is not my fault. I am not broken; I am responding to a broken world. My worth is not defined by my productivity or perfection."

Most of what I wrote this year was a book. And I can't share that yet. But I did write a handful of stories that I liked, and since this is the week many of us share our year's work, here are three. 1) An essay on Paul Reubens and the painful history of the closet. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/t... >

This is so gorgeous #publiclibraries
Gresham's new East County Library is incredible! It's no branch library, but a flagship like Central Library downtown. It's credited to Portland's Holst Architecture, but the design came equally (or more) from Ghanaian-Brit starchitect David Adjaye (who was dropped before construction). WOW.

FYI, if you're someone that likes to tuck into some Christmas TV movie rom-coms this time of year, I've directed two with Asian-American casts: A SUGAR & SPICE HOLIDAY (2020) can be streamed right on Lifetime's website (US only). A BIG FAT FAMILY CHRISTMAS (2022) is on Hallmark+ or Crave in Canada.
Four Christmas movies to know me by.

I have to go with the ones I directed, in between my main specialty genres of horror and crime and supernatural strangeness. (And there are only two.)
