Fellow federally funded scientists, CALL your representative and senators and tell them the shenanigans at NIH are endangering scientific progress, health security, and jobs. Then badger your colleagues to do it too!

Find phone numbers via house.gov and senate.gov
More from inside NIH:

Per a source with knowledge, for all internal research (of which there is like $10 billion worth or so), ALL purchasing shut down as of yesterday.

That means gloves, reagents, anything involved with lab work, which means a lot of that work will stop.

Wise words.
Here's a law of biology: breakthroughs almost never (see? our laws suck) come from where we think they will, and prescriptive agenda setting is both unnecessary and in most contexts counterproductive.

So many people here now- thought I would reintroduce myself!

I am an Assistant Prof at BCM in TX. I love behavior, neuroscience, and using worms to study those things.

I love food and drink more!

Congratulations to newly minted Dr. Gregory Reilly, who successfully defended his PhD thesis last week. We're putting together a paper on his work on sexual modulation of behavioral states in C. elegans now - hopefully you'll be able to read about it soon!
