I wonder what any of you would do differently in your lives if I said "yes, America is at this moment a fascist nation."
Because I tell ya what, if I thought so, I'd be doing things differently. For starters, I wouldn't bother worrying about elections or candidates or whom to support. /1

After a year of listening to sanctimonious Europeans complain that non-MAGA Americans aren't doing enough to fight Trump, the Greenland situation is giving then a chance to show us how it's done. So far, they have released a sternly worded statement.

"We're gonna need you to tone this down quite a bit, the sheer number of plot twists and emotional climaxes and letdowns is just too much for viewers who aren't doing hard drugs."

After stripping the US down for parts, our billionaire overlords have shifted their sights southward. Time for a statement of concern from Hakeem and a sanctimonious finger wag from Bernie before the circus moves on to Greenland.

Trump saying tariffs made the farm bailout possible reminds me of Leonard Cohen's 2009 Seattle show, when he thanked his longtime manager Kelley Lynch - who had stolen most of his money behind his back - "for making tonight both possible, and necessary."
Trump on his farm bailout: "This money would not be possible without tariffs ... because of tariffs, this is possible."

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

all I’m gonna say is that I am a life-long slightly edgy poster and I’ve never caught a suspension or a ban anywhere - because it is in fact quite easy to avoid crossing the “this joke could possibly be construed as a violent threat” line on social media

While US venture capitalists were buying monkey jpegs, and DOGE coins, and figuring out how to get Black women fired, and tweeting about white birthrates, and trying to mandate which bathroom trans kids should use, China was making progress on climate change and taking the lead in a real industry.
China has made cheap, clean energy available in huge quantities. The world should take the win econ.st/4oqFszB

OK, kids, time for the next Nancy or LBJ to step up. America needs a strong Democratic whip next year, and Jeffries ain’t it.

It is not un-American to call out Donald Trump’s cruelty, corruption and dishonesty, and it is not antisemitic to call out Benjamin Netanyahu’s cruelty, corruption and dishonesty.

Hundreds joined the #NoKings protest in Anaconda, Montana yesterday, while less than a dozen MAGAs held a counter-protest across the street. One of them (the black hat) was a member of Philipsburg Town Council wearing a sidearm on his hip.

There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.

Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.

WTF does "a more all-embracing approach" mean? Giving lies and junk science equal billing to the facts? Embracing Christian fascism? Covering the benefits of school shootings and the dangers of eradicating diseases like measles and polio?
