Work till you're 67-68 and get written off when you're 70? This needs to change. Women over 70 should be offered routine mammograms as well.

Wow, I never knew he said this.

Jimmy Carter was ahead of his time—a man of unmatched kindness and integrity. Truly, he was too good for us.

This has made me smile so much my face is aching:

the Christmas lights in the Scottish town of Newburgh are designed by its children-there’s a competition to design a new one each year. They’re made by the same co. that makes the lights for Blackpool, the Shard & Champs-Élysées:

One of the coolest things about publishing a book in Norway is that the gov will automatically buy 1k copies, 1.5K if its a children's book, these will then be distributed to all the libraries.

Had a handful of homophobic/transphobic messages here today because I’ve created a Starter Pack supporting LGBTQIA+ writers.

Please follow and share this pack to help keep Bluesky the positive place it promises to be.

Love this, simply wonderful!
Intrigued by the People’s Bookshelf at the National Library of Latvia. Each book in the collection has been donated by a member of the public and is inscribed by its former owner, telling a personal story relating to the book.

Excellent thread, I am now fully invested in Gromit the Goats welfare 🐐
Are we doing those old-school, meandering, ludicrous threads here? They were the best thing about ol’ Twitter.

And, hoo boy, have I got one for you.

Buckle up. We need to talk about Gromit.

(Not easy to say, but I’m glad to know it exists).

@niallharbison.bsky.social does the most wonderful work with the street dogs and strays in Thailand. Feeding, arranging veterinary care and re-homing many of them. Definitely worth a follow and support 🐶❤️.

I post a lot of good news about dogs on Twitter but A lot of people asking to also post here now.

Struggle to find the time but if I get over 20k followers here I'll find a way to post daily.

I've created my first starter pack! If you're a book and animal lover then comment with an image of your pet and let me know if you would like to be added. I mean who doesn't want their feed filled with books and animals? Have popped my furbabies in the comments.

When I was writing non fic about space for kids I spent months researching peeing and pooing in space. Good times. this thread is brill, start from the top tho!
Launchpad delays meant that Shepherd hit a point where he needed to go. Badly.

He asked Mission Control for permission to go in his suit. After consultation with flight surgeons & suit technicians, they gave him permission to do so.

So he wet himself & still went into space.

You know who hasn't had this degree of media support for their financial interests? Disabled people, poor people with more than two kids, public sector workers (after all that clapping for the NHS). I'm not usually a 'blame the media' person but seriously - this is mad

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up.

If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds
