A thread on birthright citizenship I wrote in 2018, that unfortunately remains relevant.

I always thought this was where it was all headed. Abolishing birthright citizenship for the non-white and non-rich. And why I teach on United States v. Wong Kim Ark every semester.

Who was Wong Kim Ark? 1/

If you don't live in LA and have been struggling to understand how much land the fires have encompassed, use this @calmatters.org tool to overlay the fires atop where you live, to get a sense of scale:

A few posts are to the President-elect who has insulted their county and people, yet they still lend a hand.

That time Rupert Murdoch endorsed Jimmy Carter (no, really)
It was the first time many Americans saw Rupert Murdoch using his news outlets to advance his interests — and a lesson in how a media mogul's outside financial ties can taint the editorial product.

There have been questions about this story since it published.
For the sake of transparency and trust, CNN needs to issue an update ASAP. Even if it is, “we hear your concerns and we’re investigating.”
🧵The man featured in Clarissa Ward's @cnnipr.bsky.social segment has been identified by Verify Syria as a first lieutenant in the Syrian Air Force Intelligence. He is believed to have killed civilians, detained and tortured young men in Homs, and now seems to be trying to rehabilitate his image. (1)
