I have a new piece out about the reporting of polls on social media. I argue that news media should do more to contextualize poll results with details like margin of error etc. and avoid the "change" frame when changes are inside the MOE. www.electionanalysis.ws/us/president...

Donald Trump once again extended TikTok’s lifeline in America. Kaitlyn Tiffany asks, will this ever end?
The Trouble With TikTok Is Getting Old

You know what I'd do for the State of the Union Response? Take two quick-thinking, young voices in the party -- AOC and Frost? -- and just have them do 10-12 minutes of reaction in Pardon the Interruption format, complete with the screen graphics. Two minutes per topic, six topics, big finish, done.

Also, despite what Bezos says, the new Washington Post opinion section will not be devoted to the principle of "personal liberty."

Will he publish columns supporting the "personal liberty" to join a labor union.

Of course not

The new opinion section will advance his personal business interests.

If Bezos doesn’t have the guts to run The Washington Post like a real newspaper that speaks truth to power, even when it gets in the way of his own pathetic groveling to Trump, he should sell it and let somebody with some courage and respect for journalism take over.
Massive encroachment by Bezos into The Washington Post’s opinion section - makes clear dissenting views will not be published

I still have not felt encroachment on my journalism on the news side, but if Bezos tries interfering with the news side I will be quitting immediately and letting you know

Just as I predicted, once no other media organization stood with AP (other than issuing statements) this was the next step. And when you bow down to this, there will be another step taken to erode press freedoms. If you don’t fight for your rights, you lose them.

In a heathy democracy, the WHCA would fight this by boycotting all WH and travel events until the old system was restored.

But they’re going to roll over and do whatever it takes to maintain “access” so they can be lied to in comfort
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announces that the White House Correspondents' Association will no longer choose the pool reporter.

U.S. Attorneys are not the President’s lawyers. They are the United States’ lawyers. You didn’t pledge an oath to a President, you pledged it to the constitution. This statement alone is reason enough to resign.

Trump comes close to the red line of openly defying judges, experts say

How stupid and arbitrary are Trump's mass firings at federal agencies?

A State Dept employee tells me some colleagues are racing to change their job descriptions so phrases like "transnational crime" don't get caught up in DOGE AI bots scanning for words like "trans" to fire people because "DEI."

Worth emphasizing that this cartoon was published by *opponents* of Jackson, and it was intended as criticism.

Unlike the current occupant of the White House, who *refers to himself* as a monarch.
During President Andrew Jackson's second term, this political cartoon, entitled "King Andrew the First," depicted Jackson as a king trampling on a shredded U.S. Constitution.

Impractical logistical nightmare that makes federal regulation dependent on the whims of an ignorant clown.
Wow...With this new EO, Trump is turning independent agencies the FTC, FEC, FCC and financial regulators into obedient lap dogs. What this means in practice is that any new rules or policies proposed by these agencies must first receive White House approval.

At the same time, the White House has adopted a unique lexicon to describe its agenda — in some cases, using words that in ordinary contexts mean the opposite.
