Friday's Oval Office betrayal was to create a pretext for this move. As long as Trump is in office, America will be on Putin's side.

Something odd here.

CBS News confirms other media reports: "Hegseth has issued a directive to U.S. Cyber Command to pause planning against Russia, including offensive digital actions."

The CBS News then notes that National Security Advisor Michael Waltz said he's unaware of the directive.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has paused cyber offensive against Russia
The change comes amid President Trump's efforts to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump's statement of the problems caused to Putin by the Russia investigation, the supposed toll on Putin caused by Trump being unable to stop it, reminds me of the "self-criticisms" of people who displeased Communist regimes.

DOGE staffer Edward “Big Balls” Coristine is the grandson of Valery Martynov - a “former” KGB spy.

That’s right, one of Elon Musk’s young cyber criminals — related to a former KGB spy, and who seemingly did not have to undergo a background check — now has unprecedented access to…

Remember when Trump called for "termination" of the Constitution in 2022?
The New York Times played it on Page 13.
Now that Trump's "termination" is happening, I wonder if the Times' editors have any regrets for years of normalization and "both sides" framing that comforted the would-be dictator.

“We must sound the alarm on why Elon Musk, a private citizen, wields such access to all our critical data. This is yet another wake-up call that Trump and Musk are rapidly dismantling U.S. institutions—a step ever closer to authoritarian control.”

Ronald Reagan: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies.

We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.”

It’s horrible. But unless it’s sold to a responsible person soon, the institution’s death is inevitable.
Cannot believe the growing scale of the exodus from the Washington Post. The institution that broke Watergate is now hemorrhaging to death.

Before the election, I warned that Trump would pardon all of the Jan. 6 defendants and some of them would form the core of a new rightwing paramilitary organization loyal to Trump.

At the time, people dismissed me as alarmist. I stand by that prediction.
