They even have a promo pic of the Richard brothers. I’m hoping there’s more info about them in the files too.

Goldband usually released cajun, country, and swamp pop stuff but this record is none of those. It’s three brothers and sounds really great to me. Just added audio here: dollarcountry.org/items/show/3...

This is also my first experiment with audio watermarking.

I updated the blog to answer some frequently asked questions like “what weights more? a pile of all the records played on dollar country or a giraffe “

It’s like they distilled social media into only the parts I don’t like. Kind of amazing honestly.

I miss my iPod. I really liked when devices just did one thing. When they started connecting to the internet or playing videos I felt like it wasn’t as good of a device. But just having a little brick in your pocket with a ton of music is something I really miss.

I’ve been looking at matrix.org. I’d love to move farther into the fediverse and away from the idea that using any app or website means I’m giving up my privacy.

Now I have gripsweats for a record that doesn’t exist. This is a cautionary tale for dedicating your life to record collecting.
I woke up from a dream this morning that I stumbled on an LP called Curling Ballads on discogs for $17 and I couldn’t buy it fast enough.

I’ve actually heard from a couple people who found me via my discogs submissions. I thought that was pretty cool.

Ps: I do gladly share hq digital copies and scans of records I have with folks if they email me at researchrequest@dollarcountry.org

The problem here is that private archiving is very important especially when most museums have warehouses of things they don‘t have room or money to deal with. Public archives are victim to politics. But finding funding for a private archive can be very difficult.

The big BUT here is that I didn’t make the record nor did I record the music. I don’t own the creation of it (nor do I want to) just the physical disc, but I do consider my place in finding and sharing it to be part of its history, however small.

A few times a year I stumble on a discogs or45cat submission where someone has used my photos. I’ve even seen ebay listings with them. All I want is for someone to know I took the picture and if they’re interested they can find their way to dollar country so I can keep doing this crazy thing.
