Seeing as things are a bit busier here now; hello, I’m Barry.

I write big riffs and yell under the name Oxygen Thief

I also write sad songs and sing nicely as Non Canon

I’ve made a playlist to introduce you to both projects, give it a whirl;

My latest album is here: noncanon.bandcamp.com along with 2 others, some t-shirts, and a collab EP notebook I made with @suzannahevans.bsky.social. Sad/slightly odd indiefolk with expansive instrumentation.

I also have loud stuff with big riffs and yelling at oxygenthief.bandcamp.com

Also bought this. Hugely fun album.
81. Kyle Lewis Is A Boring Name - Big Dog's Biggest Dog

Incredibly fun theatrical prog punk. Just impossible not to smile to. It does the magical thing that Cheekface manage of being funny and sincere at the same time.

Just bought this #bandcampfriday
2026 album listening thread:

1. Blight Future - Succession Species

Mathy, unpredictable, hook-filled post-hardcore that I stumbled across via The Gorge (who I saw at @atgfestival.bsky.social last year).

FFO: ETID, The Bronx, Dillinger Escape Plan. Ish.

That Cardigans cover on the deluxe edition is incredible.
85. Deftones - Diamond Eyes

GUNS! RAZORS! KNIIIIIIIIIVES. This, the title track, and CMND/CTRL are great. Not sure why I remember this as being an album without fun riffs. Must have been put off by some of the spacier stuff.

JUBREMONY AT THE LIREMONY
After this swam into my brain last night (unbidden, if you will, but clearly there are neural pathways that divert here at the slightest nudge), it occurred to me that a few people may not have experienced it. Put that hot drink down. Now. Yes before you start reading.

Future of the Left - You Need Satan More Than He Needs You

Cursive - Excerpts From Various Notes Strewn Around The Bedroom Of April Connolly, Feb. 24 1997

Wildhearts - If Life Is Like A Lovebank I Want An Overdraft
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

Quoting this in case it gets lost amongst the thread as it's super fucking fun.

These are really great. Like "what if Johnny Foreigner listened to more Alkaline Trio and was a (mostly) solo acoustic act from the north".

Yeah that one is still terrible.

Rats!Rats!Rats! makes up for it though, pow.
76. Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist

I think this was the last one I bought until private music.

20 years?!

Will I still cringe myself inside out at the "that's why British people have bad teeth" spoken word bit?

I love this so much it's annoying that you can only repost once without quoting.

I try to have/spread fun on here, but fuck this guy, the horse he rode in on, and the guy who sold him the horse

You’ve probably forgotten you’re following him because he’s been mercifully silent, but he’s trying to come back, so this may be a good time to unfollow (or just block him)
apropos of nothing in particular, @lilashapiro.bsky.social gave us a tremendous piece of journalism last year, and it's always a great time to revisit it and thank her for the work she did in bringing these stories to light.

I found this via the recent @post-trash.bsky.social review. Good to see that being published now, despite the album being out last year.

More of that sort of thing please, rather than the "only brand new music is featured and then it's dead to us" attitude.
73. @teenagetompetties.bsky.social - Rally The Tropes

Strong puntitle, enjoyable powerpop. Looking forward to exploring more.

A new episode this morning. I would recommend starting at the beginning though because there's been a fair bit of plot now. But you could still easily catch up in a few hours. You won't be doing much with your Sunday. Unless you play for Fulham, for example, I guess.
This is ticking along nicely still, would love to have you on board. I don't feel bad promoting it because I'm comfortably making a loss on it. Trailer from @matryer.bsky.social once more.
