Hello, BlueSky! I’m a hospitalist physician who loves bow ties and uses social media for education and advocacy especially in public health and reproductive justice. I make videos (talking and drumming) about these and other topics on the clock app and other places.
After reading this, I’m just gonna go ahead and declare that MAGA is never to be taken seriously if they mention the words “Fauci” and “pardon” in the same sentence. Ever again.

I’ll never get over this. Trump unfairly pardoned someone, they turned around and committed a new crime, and Trump pardoned them again.
You can commit any any crime you want as long as you have the money, power, and connections to get yourself a pardon.

This. I remember my grandmother talking about how scary it was for parents when a measles outbreak hit.
Also, as someone that caught chickenpox at 19 (despite chickenpox parties as a kid), it sucks, too. I was on an inhaler for months after because it got into my lungs. (1/2)

The number of people talking about deliberately infecting kids with measles and how “everyone got it when we were kids” when they are actually talking about chicken pox is a great example of how effect vaccines have been and how potentially deadly anti-vax misinformation is.

AND it ignores the number of serious complications that many kids got from Chicken Pox. Even otherwise healthy kids I would see with severe complications from myocarditis to encephalitis and more. I don’t miss that either.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I am working today, and I have forgotten to put out my usual pre-travel, pre-gathering PSA’s this year. That said, even if you are already with family, there is no shame in wearing a mask if you have any cold/flu symptoms, or even staying away 1/3

Insurance companies make more than enough money to fully staff authorizations and approvals on holidays and therefore should be open 24/7/365 so that patients aren’t stuck waiting for meds or rehab or really anything. Should be an expected part of the job.

Not offended, but repetitive moral injuries from knowing that children under our care are at risk of pain, suffering, and death because of failures outside of our control does hurt.

Doctors aren’t ”hurt or offended” offended by people who choose not to vaccinate. Most of us understand the science and the contents of the #vaccines and how herd immunity works, so we get frustrated at all the disinformation from people in gov who will dictate how we may care for patients.
