Minnesotans:my Norwegian great-grandfather and Danish great-grandmother, both of whom emigrated to Minneapolis/St. Paul in the late 1800s, found a home in you. Printers both, they married in your fair state. Thanks for all that you did today, and will continue to do! (PS-Don't mess with Vikings!)

I made it through 51 mins of a recording of Trump's presser this today, and then couldn't anymore. It's Grandpa who swills rotgut telling you what is what while you gulp your wine outside the bathroom door waiting for him to go away so you could go pee. And hoping that mom will come rescue you.

I retired after teaching H.S. English for 20 yrs + another 23 as a college prof/dean. It's HARD to walk away. However I'm blessed to have contact w/ many of my former students/"kids." Just rest in the fact that you made a difference. Teaching is the BEST-and you'll find ways to still do your thing!
So today was the first day back to school from Winter Break. Plan is submit the paperwork to retire this June. After 32 years.
I am extremely ambiguous about this move.
I think a huge part of my identity, and my joy, is teaching HS French ...

The decision has been made to break an American city. It is an experiment. We must do all we can (legally) to help Minneapolis hold on.
if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.
everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.
