Also conservatives when it's a 20-ish year old white guy accused of rape: "don't ruin his life. Boys will be boys.

But young teenage black kid with a squirt gun at the park or Skittles: "violent danger. Try him as an adult. Or just kill him."
Conservatives when it's a 15 year old in library; "These are children and I can't believe we are letting them read smut like Twilight!!!"

Conservatives when it's a 15 year old sex trafficking victim; "Looks, these people are practically legal. Barely legal even"

Honestly, until like the 1970s or 1980s, people have held the attitude that adult men having sex with teenagers is "normal" and "biologically wired." They still believe it, they just learned to stop talking about it openly at some point.

NYT editors put "Claudine Gay" in "top 5 featured on the New York Times homepage Dec 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 22, 25"

While they put Trump calling for Constitution's "termination" on page 15 and his chief of staff's "tyrant" warning on 12

Christopher Rufo openly bragged about the plans:
Chris Rufo "a total product of right-wing affirmative action and you literally would never have heard of him if he was a liberal"

It’s wild how many of the ICE/CBP detentions are turning out to be illegal — and yet in the US system, there are no consequences for the agents and no recourse for the victims.

"Like most Americans, Leonardo Garcia Venegas wants to earn an honest living in peace," writes @jaredmcclain.bsky.social, a senior attorney at @ij.org.

"Unfortunately, he lives in fear that he’ll be arrested just for showing up to work."
Opinion | He’s a citizen with a Real ID. ICE detained him anyway. Twice.
Leo Garcia Venegas’s experience shows why Trump’s immigration raids are unconstitutional.

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex
Trump Pardon Lets Convicted Child Sex Predator Walk Free
Andrew Taake walked free because of Trump’s pardons, despite being convicted of a child sex crime.

A spill on a family farm in Oklahoma killed several acres of vegetation and contaminated drinking water. A judge ordered the farmers to pay when they went after the oil company.

Oil Companies Contaminated a Family Farm. The Courts and Regulators Let the Drillers Walk Away.
The oil and gas industry has reaped profits without ensuring there will be money to plug and clean up their wells. In Oklahoma, that work could cost more than $7 billion if it falls to the state.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

Who uses SNAP?

My friend, who works, raising 5 kids, husband bailed and won’t pay child support

My neighbor battling cancer and her life-saving meds are so expensive, she chooses between meds or food

My friend who’s a vet and struggles with mental health issues.

Not one of them chose this.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

Trump pardoned a drug dealer with ties to the Kushner family, and today that man was sent back to federal prison for threatening to kill a woman, groping his family's nanny, and several other crimes.

Seems relevant, given Trump has admitted he has no idea who he's pardoning...

IF THE *ENHANCED* TAX CREDITS EXPIRE, starting on January 1st, it will change to the ORANGE 🟠 formula, which has that huge "shark fin" sticking up.

There's still a sliding scale formula from 100 - 400% FPL, but it's much less generous...and it cuts off INSTANTLY if you break 400% FPL.

Wow. WTF, @kaine.senate.gov ?

I'm a pro-markets, rule of law liberal. And I really don't think abandoning millions of Americans on the ACA exchanges to their fate is a "minor issue." It's literally a life-or-death issue for many.
Tim Kaine is on MSNBC accusing Katy Tur of "overdramatizing" the way he and some other Democrats caved. "This is by far a minor-league issue within the Democratic Party," Kaine said.
He's completely out of touch, or just lying.
