Same energy, but one is a joke by some bored dude (hi) using browser dev tools and the other is the literal pettiness of our current President on display at the White House.

There seems to be some major context issues with GPT5. Ever since it rolled out yesterday, it will give randomly give a response to a prompt from a completely different conversation -- and it's always the same one.

I met Michael at SCALE 10x in 2012 and hung out with him several times at PyCon over the years. He initially struck me as someone who was very serious, but I soon got to see his fun side. He was always supportive and encouraging, and I will miss seeing him at PyCon.
My good friend and mentor Michael R (aka goodwill on the internets) passed away last week, and I'm still reeling from the news. The Python user group we ran for 10+ years has set up a memorial page for him - anyone who knew him is welcome to contribute: socalpython.org/in-memoriam-...

Tombstone is one of my all-time favorite movies. When visiting my grandparents in Tucson as a kid, they often took me to the real town.

I once named a startup idea Huckleberry—never made it past prototype, but I loved the name.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

"You never hear people talk about the ozone layer anymore."

Yup that's because we banded together, listened to scientists, passed regulations, and fixed it.

Why does no one know this?
Your regular reminder that the US air & water pollution laws passed in the 60s & 70s -- and the elaborate federal bureaucracy created to administer them -- constitute one of the most successful gov't interventions in history. WILDLY successful. The envy of the world.
