Measures that create bureaucracy and insecurity do not offer clarity or strengthen control - they cost money, waste time and weaken the system. We should push back on the racist agenda of Reform rather than echo it. (3/6)

If the next one learns from this, it's a good thing. It will hopefully remind politicians to serve the public good, and not pacify the minority who loudly misdiagnose problems to service their bigotry and/or personal gain
If a Prime Minister is brought down by being too cruel on asylum policy - which is not the most likely option but feels plausible right now, which is new - what does that do the debate? Is it too much to hope that draws some kind of line?

The government has made the decision to have the police facilitate mobs of coked up racists holding hate rallies outside the woefully inadequate hotel accommodation they've imprisoned asylum seekers in, but sure, trying to influence the people who make policy is "toxic".
The government says this will "help clamp down on toxic behaviour in UK politics", as if that call wasn't quite obviously coming from inside the House.

Most ordinary people care about this if they understand the problem. We could make even more progress and further mitigate the consequences of climate change if we dealt with the cause of so many of our problems: the handful of billionaires who seem to control our governments.
With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I can't think of a single politician who campaigned hard for Brexit who has since come out and said that they think it was a mistake. Surely, in their heart of hearts, literally one or two of them must know that. So is it that they can't admit it to themselves or just to us?

The immigration system is for securing territory & controlling the labour market.

The far right have convinced themselves it's for forced diversity & Great Replacement.

Liberals have convinced themselves it's about openness & prosperity.

Both think it's an expression of national moral character.

The far right aren’t bothered about the finer points of asylum rules they simply want NO people of colour to be in their field of vision at any time, and Shabana that means you. Trying to capitulate like this achieves NOTHING other than contributing more to the climate of hate.

Banning people from work has never made sense. The House of Lords couldn't understand it, and we don't either.

The Government is prepping asylum reforms RIGHT NOW. They must hear voters want an end to this absurd ban - not more irrational hostility:

Behind the weasel words and prevaricating euphemisms, Britain's politics of immigration are rooted in an antipathy to the presence of negatively racialised people in this country *on any terms*. If we'd confronted that reality decades ago, and faced it down, we wouldn't be where we are now.
the video goes on and on about illegal immigration and yet the new proposal will target legal migration by confirmed refugees
