I kinda wish I grew up in England, only because it would be cool to hear someone call me "bruv".

Remi Malik's character in No Time to Die is basically Dr. No.

If you haven't seen Jimmy Kimmel's monologue send off to Cleto, you should.

Beautiful. Heartbreaking and beautiful.

It takes a lot of courage to do it. And he did it with grace and humor and love.

I can hear JD Vance's post-swearing-in speech:

"I come here not to praise Caesar, but to bury him."

Not a big fan of the Baroque period, but this Aria from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas is a beautiful of anything in the Romantic period.

Jimmy Kimmel's monologue tonight is going to be really hard for him.

My heart goes out to him and Cleto's family and everyone who loved him.

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are so much fun. And awesome soundtrack. (Yeah, I'm that old.)

We should talk more openly, loudly and frequently about the hard parts of our job, even though, and actually because, we love it. If you need someone to talk to, especially if you are an early career scholar, reach out to me.

You are not alone.

It is inevitable that, in life, we will sometimes stumble and fall down. The only (Spock voice) logical choice of action is to get up and keep going.

(Re-)watching IT and scrolling on Bluesky. Kinda surreal as I see pictures of Trump. He's like the Pennywise of politics.

The Morning Show S4:E8 is a killer. You'll need at least 1/2 box of tissues.

Dame Judy Dench as M was one of the most inspired casting decisions ever.

Indefensible.
It’s clear who the aggressors are. Keep remaining nonviolent, and record EVERYTHING. All of these masked ICE thugs will be held accountable.

Just watched The Capture. Raises a lot of interesting questions about security and safety and the lengths some people will go to if not checked by accountability.

Just watched 19:22 of The Chair Company. Possibly one of the dumbest TV series ever produced.

If you're into filmmaking, the Scorsese doc on Apple TV is definitely worth watching. His films were hit or miss with me, but understanding where he came from and what he was trying to do made a big difference. I have a much deeper respect for him.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.

Just watched The Substance. Not for the queasy (body horror genre), but it has a lot going on. Very deep messages about age and identity when it comes to women. (Directed by a woman.)

I'll have to see it again, but it's worth seeing. Left the crowds at Cannes speechless from what I heard.

I just found out about the death of Jane Goodall. It hit me much harder than I thought it might. At 91, she had a good life. A very good life. Much better than mine.
