“People ask me what I do in the winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
-Rogers Hornsby

All the best to my readers and followers this festive season. Baseball inches closer every day. 2026 is going to be great.
Blue Jays have several prospects (mostly at the lower levels) from Venezuela. I’m going to reach out to the organization tomorrow to see what - if anything - they know.

Just finished my citations and first round of edits before sending my manuscript to my publisher, and now all I want to do is eat handfuls of chocolate chips right out of the Chipits bag.

Honestly, how much more taxpayer $ is Ford going to piss away before voters finally wake up?
🚘🕳️ Through 2025, Colin D'Mello and I invested a lot of time looking into Ontario Premier Doug Ford's dream of tunnelling under Hwy. 401. Through sourcing, freedom of information and lots of questions, here's what we found (in chronological order) #OnPoli

We won a coconut and a plastic banana at our neighbours’ NYE party. 2026 is getting off to a great start.

And right on cue, my snowblower conks out.
Tomorrow’s shoveling will be equivalent to about a thousand heavy kettle bell swings.

uhhh yeah I can see why these childcare properties weren't eager to let in some rando dudes asking "where are the kids?"

Six months after the Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League were sold to a group from Louisville, KY, Maple Leaf Stadium was demolished in April, 1968. Everything was sold, including home plate to this fan for $10.

Today I learned that Phish did a live cover of "Watcher of the Skies" for Genesis' 2010 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Not a lot of 70s prog rock fans were in attendance, judging from the look on many faces.
It's a good cover, and you can actually hear the lyrics.

Today's task: going over my manuscript to add citations, as per my publisher's request.
Never again will I make the mistake of not writing them down. They were so easy to find when I was writing, not so much now.

Today I learned that Charlie Gehringer, who manned 2nd Base for the 1925 Toronto Maple Leafs before going on to a Hall of Fame career, struck out only once in 90 World Series at bats.

Thankfully, it was behind a paywall.
They are not “Canada’s Indigenous Peoples.”
That headline made further reading unnecessary.
