Very fun story here. I only saw this post this week, and immediately had to learn more.
Why and how a JRPG fan spent $2,000 building a GameStop in his basement: "The spaces combined with the passions in our lives have the power to bring people together"
"It went beyond the games themselves and was ingrained in the social tissue of the time"

Looks like @dkbailey64.bsky.social's interview with Keita Takahashi has been making the rounds before I could even share it!

Full thing definitely worth a read.
Keita Takahashi said 'To a T' didn't sell well enough. He moved back to Japan with his family, unsure if he will stay in the industry.

ok, the plot has thickened, time to be really specific.

if you worked at or regularly visited the Nintendo Redmond office around 1996/1997, and recall the lobby area of the same building that had the store on the second floor, I have a question for you about a piece of decor!
I confirmed what I needed to get the story signed off on, but out of pure curiosity about a detail, if you have a very good memory and visited the Nintendo Redmond office around 1996/1997, or have a photo/video of the lobby, I'd still love to ask you a quick question!
hi! this is a very weird ask, but I am looking to speak to someone who visited the old Nintendo Redmond office (the one active in the 90s and 00s that's now a tennis court) who feels they remember the lobby pretty well. just have a couple quick questions, trying to verify something for a story.
