Most Heated Rivalry coverage has been focused on what young people, particularly younger straight women, think. I cover aging and decided to ask older gay men about their thoughts.

I found: A founder of what may have been the first gay hockey blog, a wedding cake shaped like a Zamboni and more.
Older gay men built their own hockey fandom. Then came 'Heated Rivalry.'
The hit show is an unexpected invitation for some older gay hockey fans to reflect on love, acceptance and coming out.

Reminder: there is a difference between equality, equity, and justice. Here’s a helpful graphic to explain said differences.

Just called Kaine’s office and let a staffer know that if he doesn’t stop voting for Trump’s nominees and agenda, I will be backing a primary challenger when he runs next. Yes he’s not up till 2030, but I have a long memory.
By a vote of 54-40, the #Senate confirmed the nomination of David Clay Fowlkes to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas.

Dems voting in favor: Durbin, Hassan, Kaine, Shaheen, and Whitehouse.

Just landed in Virginia and to paraphrase Douglas Adams: “the temperature is well below the legal minimum, or rather it would do if anybody had the common sense to set a legal minimum.”

This is great, it really is. But that works out to $100 per worker. And that’s assuming that lawyers don’t get a cut of the payout first. Wage theft/fraud screws workers out of billions each year and if punished, they write a check for a fraction of what they stole. A fine is price. Cost of business
Corporations will not exploit working people in NYC.

Uber Eats, Fantuan & HungryPanda broke the law — shortchanging workers while raking in profits.

Today, we secured $5M+ in restitution for 49,000 delivery workers.

Let this be a warning: steal wages, face the consequences.

Come on, no one could possibly have predicted that having an armed unaccountable masked Gestapo with “uniforms” purchased at military consignment shops could lead to something like this!

I’m at a Vegas hotel for a conference. At the reception last night I went to the bartender and had this conversation:

You guys are Pepsi, right?
Yes sir.
<sigh> ok. Thanks.
Why? What’re you looking for.
Just wanted a Diet Coke.
I got you. <opens up a cabinet and grabs a can of Diet Coke for me>

Yknow guys, I’m starting to think tha @kentremendous.bsky.social was throwing shade at Democrats when he was writing The Good Place Committee scenes…

Holy shit. If Schumer is actually saying something useful like this, public opinion on both sides must be pretty unified.
January 28, 2026 at 7:42 PM
Hey, @schumer.senate.gov, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, every other fucking Democrat out there: see how fucking easy this is?? THIS is the correct way to approach this! Grow a fucking spine and stand behind her!
Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, “DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”
House Democrat Says Abolishing ICE Isn’t Enough — DHS Must Go, Too
“The problem isn’t ‘training.’ DHS was built to violate our rights,” said Rep. Delia C. Ramirez.

This is the key! They are already disregarding the law! Passing more laws won’t actually fix that!

Trans bathroom laws were a similar red herring that did nothing but further marginalize the trans community. Rape is already illegal! A sign on a bathroom isn’t stopping anyone trying to do it!
I don’t think we should make concessions to the Masked Murderers Guild of America. I don’t think we should compromise so the Masked Murderers Guild of America stops using kidnapped kids from schools as bait. I thought this was already illegal. The Masked Murderers Guild of America should not exist.

a fun thing to witness lately are non-us colleagues asking about uncertainty with political unrest in the usa and how it's affecting folks personally as well as professionally.

What a fucking embarrassment. Jews have a term for behavior like this: “chilul hashem.” It means behaving in such a way that brings shame on the entire Jewish people.

May any Jew defending the kind of things Germany was doing in the 30s to pave the way for the holocaust never know a moment’s peace
January 27, 2026 at 4:14 PM
If this is true, which it isn’t, then pull out your fucking phone and show them the videos!
Duckworth on Senate Republicans: "I gotta be honest with you. When I talk to a few of my colleagues, they had not even seen the videos. It's almost like they put blinders on. They're uneasy."
January 27, 2026 at 3:44 PM
Dems: please start following the law.

Fascist regime: lol. No.

Dems: if you don’t, we’ll pass even more laws!
January 27, 2026 at 3:14 PM
I wonder if Aaron wants to buy the bridge I’m selling. Has he been in a coma for the last year? Laws are meaningless if the people responsible for enforcing them refuse to do so. They defy court orders, break laws, and suffer no consequence. It’s like getting the Nazis to pinky swear to stop killing
Dems do not have a majority and ICE has $75 billion outside of normal appropriations that it can spend even if DHS shuts down. Some of these asks would make actual, tangible difference (the warrant requirement being a huge one to correct an egregious illegality), but it wouldn't stop ICE in general.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

I will vote and work to primary any Dem who votes for this package. This is like trying to weather a tsunami with a raincoat. Abolish ICE should be the starting point for any Dem if the want to keep their seat. Putting @markwarner.bsky.social and @kaine.senate.gov on notice as a VA voter.

My wife and I are Virginia democrats who vote in every primary and general election and if @markwarner.bsky.social and @kaine.senate.gov don’t stop voting for Trump’s nominees, bills, and agenda and start acting like the fate of the republic is at stake we will be seeking new representation.

This reminds me of the men who want a cookie for not beating their wives. Like motherfucker this is how you’re SUPPOSED to act in a society. This is like a quarter step above the bare fucking minimum.
“And we didn’t even kill him!”
January 27, 2026 at 1:17 AM
Abolish ice.

Then prosecute the murderers.
Then prosecute the rest of them.
Then prosecute the enablers.
Then primary every democrat too feckless to take a stand and fucking DO anything.
This isn't about "training issues." The murderer who executed Renee Good has been with ICE for 10 years, and according to DHS, the murderer who executed Alex Pretti has been there for 8 years.

These aren't "new recruits," or officers that can be "retrained." ICE can't be reformed. Abolish ICE.

January 26, 2026 at 3:20 PM
Is it fucked up that I’m more furious at democrats right now than I am at ICE or republicans? I’m horrified and despondent over their behavior and want them to pay dearly for it, but being mad at them for it is like being mad at a duck for quacking. (cont.)
