Seems like a valid question. Why is ICE considered essential while ATCs are not?
Why are ICE agents being paid during the shutdown, but not air traffic controllers? 🤨

Just 15 years late but finally watching Page One: Inside the New York Times. The focus on Twitter in the newsroom is whiplash looking back.

It doesn’t matter. Either way Polymarket wins and everyone else loses.

Now everyone is talking about a Nancy Pelosi federal charge, no one knows what it could be about, and having “early access” to that information, if it is real, is useless.

This is bad for the fabric of society.
is this real or just a whale trading in an illiquid market

A note for sports: Bluesky’s engagement rate was x10 higher than X’s across a sampling of identical posts made on both platforms by @rapsheet.bsky.social (sharing with permission)

Fwiw we see a similar trend across all communities, not just sports. Real people, real conversations.

“Freedom of the press is one of the great bulwarks of liberty and can never be restrained but by despotic governments” -Virginia’s 1776 Declaration
Scores of journalists with access to the Pentagon handed in their press passes on Wednesday rather than sign on to new rules that sharply restrict access and raise the prospect of punishment for simply requesting information on matters of public interest. Here is what the new rules say.
What Do the New Pentagon Press Reporting Rules Say?
The new rules codify strict limitations on access and raise the prospect of punishment for requesting information on matters of public interest.

bingo 🎯
Software engineer salaries are going to be crazy high after the LLM companies spend years enabling everyone to create mountains of technical debt then go bankrupt.
Jesus christ. AI coding platform Augment code had to jack up prices because 22.5% of their users were spending 20x of what they paid, and even after raising the prices, they're still running at a loss.

Absolutely insane thing to say about a team that already went 6-0 against the dodgers and a city that is <50% white
do i think the dodgers likely stomp the brewers? yes. do i also think baseball is incredibly stupid and makes no sense so anything could happen? yes. do i also find milwaukee uncomfortable as a concept because that many white people who look like me in one place is unnerving and dangerous? also yes

Sinclair calling bluff on ABC. A high risk bet given affiliate is easiest for consumers to replace in traditional broadcast model:

Studio (production company) ⤵️
National Network (ABC, NBC, etc.) ⤵️
Local Affiliate Station (Nexstar, Sinclair, etc.) ⤵️
Distributor (cable, satellite, antenna) ⤵️
Consumer
This just in from Sinclair: "Beginning Tuesday night Sinclair will be preempting 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return."
