There are 770,000 Venezuelan refugees in the US. Let's be sure to protect them too.

Here's a list of refugee resettlement orgs by state that you can volunteer with or donate to:

Here's a map highlighting resettlement clusters:

Reminder that in times like these, the worst thing you can do is doomscroll & become hopeless about the state of the world.

Wield your anger, and let it be the kowder peg to bring birth to a new world. Join a socialist organization. Organize your communities. Learn from past struggles for justice.

Our failure to reckon and prevent the Gaza Genocide, the degree of impunity by which state actors can inflict unparalleled violence, is why the powers that be feel quite confident they can do what they are doing to Venezuela. We should be reflecting on how we let this happen.

Something americans need to understand is that your country has always been a colonial occupation war monster with an endless hunger for new resources and territories that not only has never shied away from mass death but in facts seems to seek it enthusiastically at every turn.

The Democratic Party won't save us. Stop pretending so.

"Okay Miguel, what do we do?"

Admittedly I don't know. But firstly we should *NOT* lose hope.

And here I am recommending a video to get some ideas. I pray we find a solution.

"waow they haven't even bothered to try and manufacture consent for this" yeah i dunno where you've been but awhile back they realized they could just do shit without consequence, on multiple fronts, without needing to present it as anything nicer than it is first.
January 3, 2026 at 6:32 PM
Why would they? And they will only oppose if after it all ends that it "went badly." I fully expect them to only speak about it during the "excesses" when it makes the US look too bad to be excused. And of course all blame on Trump & party, and not the millions more people it to took to get us here.
Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries haven’t said anything about Venezuela

Obviously its early but I don't think we should be calling this war. War brings to mind more or less equally competent parties in armed conflict. What we have here is a conquest, a colonial takeover, or what have you.

We're back to early 20th century colonialism.
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."

If you do not have anticolonialism as a core part of your politics, I think you’re a useful idiot for the most evil empire in history at best if not actively in favor of slaughter. Anyone in the America centric “left” who only cares when it affects their own country is not to be taken seriously.

I need all you of to become fervent and committed anti-imperialists. And I don't mean in so far as pure military terms, I mean specifically ending the unequal relationship that the imperial core has with the periphery.

I'm hardly original in saying this, but a lot of people are going to try to make this about whether Maduro being gone is good or bad as such, rather than the blatant violation of international and US law in a destabilizing act of aggression.

Don't fall for it.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

it astonishes me that people think america's hunger for death starts & ends with a singular president as if the entire country was not built on the pillaging of indigenous people. this evil is there by design, & if you do not see it & resist it with all you have the world will continue to suffer

Three million people live in Caracas, five million in the metro area. It's one of the densest cities in South America. Remember this in the morning when they try to spin this as anything other than a cold-blooded attack on a major civilian center.

"Mulitpolarity!" says the Russia/China simps and those countries do nothing about the ever increasing break down of whatever filmsy thing we call "international law."

Remember all those times I talked about the Guatemalan Civil War and Jacobo Arbenz and liberals blocked me or hurled slurs at me?

Good times
Also if anyone is interested in the history of the United States' attempts to topple leaders in South America and install more friendly dictators then you can - and I'm not joking here - download the files from the CIA website.

I once had a mutual who was pro-get Maduro out all costs. I wonder now how she feels now we've reached illegal kidnapping and bombing innocents.

2026 Book Thread

4.5/5

I really enjoyed the overall themes of identity and society the book explores, the ending I found somber in a way I am unsure if I'm supposed to take as resignation or a challenge to the reader to accept the world as is. Some weird anachronism here/there but overall nice

Media Thread 2026

It took me several months to finish. Not really qualified to comment on rep but it does seem in good faith. I love the dynamic the lead and her dad has, the romance was cute, and it the sort of cheese I like. My only crit is maybe a little too straight.

FE4 where everything is the same but Grahnye is Quan's sister (anyone notice how Quan is the only one in the trio who doesn't have a sister and Grahnye is from Leonster).

Is it really necessary? Not really just a thought.
